CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is an innovative model of food distribution that connects the consumer directly with the farmer. A CSA customer essentially buys a stake in the farm and in return, receives a regular delivery of fresh produce throughout the growing season.  CSA is a great way to create local food infrastructure, reducing our dependence on imported/shelf stable foods and fossil fuels all while connecting families and neighbors to the benefits of local seasonal agriculture.

Our Commitment to you

We pledge to provide the freshest, highest quality organic vegetables and fruits. Most of the produce you receive from us will be less than 48 hours from the field when you are able enjoy it. We commit to using, and often surpassing, USDA Organic standards. That means we use no synthetic fertilizers, insecticides or soil fumigants.  Although many of our methods are time-intensive and don’t generate profit for the farm, we believe that putting a priority on soil health and conservation as well as promoting biodiversity results in beautiful, flavorful, and clean produce that you can serve to your family and friends with pride.

We will do everything we can to provide a wide variety of foods to help you become familiar with the joys of seasonal eating. We are capping this season’s CSA at 150 members to assure that our shareholders receive the highest quality we have available.

Your Commitment to us

Shared Burden-

We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful share each week. The quantity however, may vary from week to week due to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors despite our best efforts. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members. In the unlikely event of a crop failure, our procedure is as follows:

If only a small portion of crops fail, we compensate for the failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown on the farm that are ready for harvest at that time. We may cover for a crop loss by buying in from other local farmers generally with the same or similar certifications as our farm. This may not be a feasible option for all crops because of cost or widespread failure. We will never put anything in our boxes that doesn’t come from farmers that we have a personal relationship with, meaning we’ve worked on or visited their farms, and we implicitly trust their practices. In the interest of transparency, we will always identify produce that we didn’t grow and give you information about the other farm.

By signing up for the CSA, you are agreeing to let us farm for you for the whole season. You are providing us working capital at the beginning of the year to insure the farm’s financial and operational sustainability (thank you!).  With that trouble out of the way, we can focus on growing the best food possible for you and your family.

Pickup Procedures

We are passionate about providing you with fresh organically grown produce as conveniently as possible. Because we deliver to pick up locations that are giving up their spaces free of charge, it is important that we respect their businesses and their time. It is our policy that food must be picked up within the allotted window of time, and our pickup locations have been instructed to donate and/or disturb unclaimed shares as they see fit after the window closes.

You will find your share in a waxed vegetable box. Since these boxes are almost $3.00 each, we like to reuse them (If we didn't reuse boxes our annual cost would be over $9,000!). Please bring a couple of grocery bags with you to take your produce home with. When your box is empty, please break it down flat, and place it neatly with the other collapsed boxes.

Vacation Holds

Unfortunately vegetables don't take a vacation, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn't. We have struggled to find a strategy that will allow us to hold boxes when you are away. This season are trying out a new feature that will enable you to put your box on hold for pick up later. There is a limit of two vacation holds per season. These surplus boxes will be delivered over the two weeks following the end of the season. Notice must be given via email by Friday before the week requested.
